Our Mission: The Leadership in Capital Projects (LinCP) Forum promotes excellence in the design, delivery and operation of capital projects through collaborative Forums and other initiatives and events.
The LinCP Forum brings together capital project Owners, Contractors, Architects, Engineers, Program Managers, Consultants, and others for collaborative discussions to improve project leadership and management, project outcomes, and the industry as a whole.
About the Leadership in Capital Projects (LinCP) Forum by Carol Warkoczewski, RA, MSOLE
I conceived of the LinCP Forum in early 2008 as I contemplated the question, "What would it look like if the key stakeholder constituents involved in capital projects got together to talk about current, topical design and construction issues in a collaborative way?"
You see, as an architect, project manager and executive at various architectural firms and the University of Texas System, I was involved in the conception, planning, design, construction, and management of many major projects. As well, my work as a consultant and project process facilitator has brought me into the midst of the planning and delivery of over 80 wide-ranging capital projects.
During the Partnering process, key project stakeholders work on project goals, team values and behaviors, effective communications, expectations, and project issues, but always focused on a specific project. So, I wondered if it would be of value to invite a "few" of my clients and project participants to a "conversation" that was industry-focused, rather than project focused. As I bounced this idea off some of my clients, I received warm encouragement. Thus, the Leadership in Capital Projects (LinCP) Forum was born.
The first LinCP Forum was held February 27, 2009, in Austin, Texas. The positive response I received encouraged me to have regional events around Texas, and to begin having annual events in Austin. Since February 2009 I have held two more Forums, in San Antonio on June 18-19, and in Irving on October 15-16.
The 2nd Annual LinCP Forum will be February 24-26, 2010, at Barton Creek Resort and Spa, in Austin, Texas. There will be two full days of presentations, case studies, and small group discussions around the topics of Building Information Modeling (BIM), Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), LEAN Practices, and Building Leadership. The last half-day (February 26) is devoted to small group discussions and work groups.
Past LinCP Forums have given birth to three initiatives: 21st Century Partnering, Capital Projects Scorecard, and Project Delivery Education (currently in formation). These initiatives are producing products that will help improve project team effectiveness and successful capital projects.
